I found a new apartment!!! It's an ADORABLE 1br duplex on Harbert, in the Cooper/Young district. I'm so excited about it. It's completely renovated, has a washer/dryer/dishwasher, lots of closets, a big fenced-in backyard, security system, & a cute little porch swing even. A doctor at work was renting it out--just kinda making it word of mouth so they wouldn't be renting to random people. I will be moving in in July. Gonna be weird moving to Midtown though. But then again, I'll be so much closer to everything--especially to work! Here's a pic of the outside:
So yeah. While I was out walking my dog today at the park, my purse was stolen. I had locked it in my trunk (yeah, real smart, i know). They somehow shimmied my window down & unlocked the door. My credit cards, my drivers license, & my precious digital camera & Ipod were in there :(. Filed a police report & cancelled everything, so I guess that's all I can do.
Moral of the story: Don't leave your purse ANYWHERE in your vehicle. Oh, and another moral would be to just have better luck than me!!!!
Haven't updated in FOREVER. Let's see what's new. I'm sick as a dog at the moment with a ragin' urinary tract infection. Ouch. That's never fun. Went to the dr & got some antibiotics & pyridium, so maybe i'll get to feeling beter. A bout to start a new job next week. I'll be working at Methodist University Hospital in the Stem Cell & Bone Marrow Transplant unit of their Cancer Care Center. I'll be dealing with stem cell transplants, obviously, and patients with a variety of blood & lymph cancers, like leukemia, myeloma, lymphomas, etc. I'm really excited about it. I was going to go to LeBonheur, but this came up & it really does suit me better. I love oncology nursing. I'm really excited. Not much else going on. Started back on Weight Watchers this week. Need to lose about 15 lbs!!!! :) Isn't that always the case?
I am totally all about some Blake Lewis on American Idol. WOOOOT! Here's his performance last night. He's so cool!!!

well, the highlight of this year was buying a new couch. maybe 2007 will be a better year for me.
Guess I should update this thing every now & then, huh? Nothing interesting to tell really. Working a lot. We have a baby in here tonight that has 6 fingers on each hand & 6 toes on each foot. lmao. Poor kid. That's pretty interesting, I suppose. haha. For real though. I've been working 36+ hours a week, still doing nights.
I have only bought 1 Christmas present so far. I'm going to wait til after payday next week to get the rest. So that's one more for Nate, Amy, Payson, Dad, Mom, Grandparents. That should do. I really haven't asked for much myself. Just some nice new pots & pans and a new wallet. I love this season though. Makes me feel good. I'm going to Kosciusko next Saturday for Christmas at Nonnie & Buzzy (my grandparents)'s house with my mom's side of the family. Nate may go with me for the day if he's off work. He's never met these grandparents. It should be a good time...always is.
Other than that. umm. I can't really think of anything major to tell. Things are going well. Nate & I are happy and lovin' it. Everyone's healthy in my family, as far as I know.
If I don't update for a while, have such a Merry Christmas!!!
I'm in South Carolina right now. My parents & I left Greenville around 4:30am & got here about 5pm. It's so good to see Amy, Cliff, & Payson! Payson has grown soooo much, even since I last saw her in August. She'll be 5 in February...I cant believe it! Anyway, we'll be here til next Friday. Should be a lot of fun. We're going to Charleston one day & spending the night. That city is so beautiful...i love it.
Anyways, yall have a very happy thanksgiving! be sure & let those closet to you know how thankful you are for them.
I'M THANKFUL FOR:
My family My family's love and support Jesus in my life The many opportunities I've been blessed with My boyfriend My friends My health, my family & friend's health The abilities and talents that God has blessed me with My dog
soo much more..i'll add to it as the week goes on :)
I watched a 2 hour show on eating disorders tonight. and they were talking about how on the internet there are TONS of Pro-Anorexia sites.....giving tips HOW to become anorexic, etc.
I came across this on livejournal, and seriously gasped:
Can't type to well here, but I broke my damn arm. Thursday night I was running inside to get out of the rain, slipped, tried to catch myself & snapped my radius. ouch. spent the night in the ER. got a pink cast today. in paiiiinnn....vicoden has been my best friend.
Gosh..it's been forever since I've updated! I've been pretty busy with work & such. I haven't really even checked LJ in a while anyway. So what's new with Jen? Hmm. Well, I'm done with school, except for the CPNE (Clinical Performance Nursing Exam) and the NCLEX-RN (which is the state licensing exam), which I'll take in Dec & Jan. So at work, I'm now doing my actual preceptoring and in RN orientation. I'm still considered an extern, but now i get the title "patient care extern" until i pass boards. Not too shabby...I got a few bucks raise & all. I think I'm gonna stay here for a while. This is a great place to start out my career at. I'm getting so much experience that I wouldn't get anywhere else in Memphis, even at Baptist's NICU. I'd like to do travel nursing in a year or two, & you have to have a year experience anyway, so what the heck. Hmm. what else. Not much exciting going on. I went to Mississippi a few weekends ago, ended up staying for like 4 days. It was nice going home and relaxing. Sometimes I need to just get out of this city for a few days. Out of the rat race, so to speak. Been to a few weddings this month. One of my bff's from DSU got married last weekend, Niki. That was fun. Halloween is this weekend...Nate & I are gonna be serious candy ravers. haha. I'm making us some big ole' pants & candy necklaces & stuff. We're going to a party at a friend's house Saturday night. I love Halloween. Tomorrow night, me, Nate, & our friends Phil & Jennifer, are gonna go to some haunted house in midtown. haha. I've heard it's damn scary!
I am so impressed with my cooking abilities. I made homemade fried chicken last night. I told my mom that I was gonna try & make it...she said it was going to be a disaster b/c frying chicken is an "art". Well, that fried chicken turned out PERFECT! Oh my. I'm so proud! I also made homemade macaroni & cheese and homemade buttermilk cheese biscuits. Definitley not a low carb meal, huh? But I never make things from scratch. *pats self on the back*. I used Paula Deen's recipes for it all. Here's the recipe if yall wanna try it:
are these the cutest shoes ever or what???? i want them so bad! they're pretty pricey for Yellow Box shoes though...like $80. maybe they'll go on sale or something:
So, I was flipping around stations on the tv & came across "The Beach"..with Leo DiCaprio. I forgot how much I LOVE that soundtrack! Been listening to it tonight & it's put me in the best mood. Download it if you don't have it. New workout song: Faithless "Woozy"
